This crochet llama hat pattern is a design that’s fun to make and also fun to wear. I had a blast creating the design, playing with just the right amount of yarn fringe to get the design just right. I adore crochet llama patterns and always have fun making them so it was a challenge I was more than happy to tackle.
Animal Hat Crochet Patterns
It’s always fun to make animal hat crochet patterns. They’re obviously great for kids who love to wear them anytime. If you have a little one that you struggle to keep bundled up, projects like the llama hat crochet pattern can help a lot. Make things that they want to wear!
And, of course, people of all ages can delight in the whimsy of wearing a hat like this. The llama hat crochet pattern is great for costume parties, silly photos and just for fun. That’s why I’ve designed it in sizes from baby through adult. Why leave anybody out of the fun?

Easy Crochet Hat Pattern
This is an easy crochet hat pattern. You’ll work primarily in double crochet stitches. Obviously, you’ll have to do some shaping, particularly for details like the ears. However, I’ve provided a video tutorial for this pattern to assist you in case you get stuck. Overall, you should find that this pattern is interesting but not too challenging.
– H/5 mm and I/5.5 mm crochet hooks or hook needed to obtain gauge

Use a tapestry needle and your black yarn to sew nose and mouth onto snout.

Cut six 30” strands of the brown and off white yarns (total= 12 strands). Holding all of the strands, fold in half and pass the folded loop through the bottom of the ear flap (use hook to help). Pass the strand ends through the loop and pull tight to form a knot. Divide the strands into three sections (8 strands in each) and braid. Repeat for 2nd braid.
