crown measures 4 inches

height measures 5 inches

- Crochet hook: J 6mm or hook needed to obtain gauge
- Yarn: Bulky # 5 (I used Premier Puzzle in the color “Cat’s Cradle”)
- Pom Pom Maker
- tapestry needle
- scissors
- hot melt adhesive
13 dc= 4″ and just over 9 rows= 4″
- you are crocheting in the round
- hat is worked from the top down
- the ch at the beginning of each round never counts as your first stitch
- you can make any size hat longer or shorter by repeating or eliminating the second to last row

dc- double crochet
rnd- round
rnds- rounds
st- stitches
sts- stitches
rem- remaining
sc- single crochet

Instructions between two asterisks should be repeated for the remainder of the round.
Rnd 1: magic ring, ch 2, 11 dc, join with sl st in top of first dc [11]
Rnd 2: ch 2, 2 dc in same st, 2 dc in each rem st, join [22]
Rnd 3: ch 2, 2 dc in same st, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st*, join [33]
Rnd 4: ch 2, 2 dc in same st, dc in next 2 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts*, join [44]
Rnds 5– 12: ch 2, dc in same st, dc in each rem st, join [44]
Rnd 13: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each rem st, join, fasten off and weave in ends [44]

Firmly and evenly wind your white yarn around each set of arches. After the first set of arches, close them and then wind your yarn around the second set.


Cut the yarn between each set of arches.

Use a scrap piece of yarn to tie the pom pom in place. I recommend you double/triple knot it.

Carefully open the arches.
Use a hot melt adhesive to place a dab of glue in the center of the pom pom. This will help prevent it from unraveling.

Fluff your pom pom and trim any long ends.
Use a tapestry needle to attach your pom pom to the top of your hat.
